Two weeks ago, I went on a weekend trip to Boston. During that time, I had the opportunity to connect with my high school friend, David, and meet his girlfriend, Mia. They met at MIT while working on their Masters degrees.
Glen and Beth | Falling for you
Last month, I had the privilege of travelling to Hamilton to document a wonderful milestone between Glen and Beth at Albion Falls.
Wishing the best for these two on their engagement!
Luc and Masa | The Perfect Nanaimo Bars
These two lovebirds look like they've come from a live Disney movie.
They may both be extremely photogenic, but their chemistry is so captivating.
10 Terms of Water Boys
For the last 3 years, I have taken photos of the Water Boys for 10 consecutive terms. I have had the honour to personally meet and photograph 50 talented guys. As much as I love to fan girl over these Water Boys, I have made some great friendships over the last few years. Ever since my first term in university, I have been a fan of these guys, but when more of my friends joined this awesome a cappella group, I finally decided to ask to take photos.
Looking through these photo collages, I can say I have changed as an image maker both technically and artistically. As much as I love how certain terms turned out, I am proud to say that my style has changed. These guys have been patient and understanding as I learn and experiment different ideas that pop up. There have been terms where I wanted to experiment with backgrounds and other terms where I focus on the technical aspect.
Here are some of the highlights of each term:
Spring 2013
I am sad to say that I cannot find individual photos from this term (other than the square that was made). YAY! I took photos of the Water Boys!

WATER BOYS Fall 2015
I had the opportunity to take head shots of the Water Boys for the Fall term. They are some of the sweetest guys that I know.
I hope you enjoyed these portraits.

Evolution of Retouching
In 2011, I had my first Fashion Photography experience with models, make-up artists and other aspiring photographers. It was the first time I ever did photography with a team. At the time, I loved how the photos turned out. However, I didn't have a grasp on colour and only played with contrast to create an atmosphere. Four years later, I have learned more about retouching and wanted to see how much I have changed in my process work.
This is an original photo from the shoot without any retouching.

Here is my 2011 edit.
As you can see, the colours are too yellow. I wanted to have a darker, high fashion look, but I did not know what to do with the colours.
Fast forward to 2015. I wanted to see how my "vision" for this image changed and what direction it would go in.
Here's the result:
Here is a comparison of the 2011 and 2015 edits.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments (:
WATER BOYS Spring 2015
This was my seventh time photographing the Water Boys. When we were out shooting, the sun was setting and the lighting changed significantly near the end of the photo shoot, but we still were able to work with it. It's amazing to see how comfortable someone gets in front of the camera over time. Some of these guys were nervous the first time we took photos, but now they know their angles, aren't afraid to be silly and enjoy getting their photo taken. I'm so proud of them. You should definitely check out their videos here!
COMMITTEE Spring 2015
This summer, I had the pleasure of taking photos of The Committee, an a cappella group that was formed at the University of Waterloo. For some of them, it was a new experience to be in front of the camera. I think they put on their game faces on and worked it! What do you think?
